Hair Trend: The French Bob

One of the big hair cuts I’m seeing at the start of 2023 is the French bob. I am such a huge fan of this cut because it embraces an effortless undone feel. Its not sleek like the Victoria Beckham bob of the 2000s. It embracing natural texture and looks like you just rolled out of bed (but still look effortlessly amazing)!

Here are a few keys to the French bob…

  1. Keep it blunt & textured. You do not want a dramatic graduation (or stack) to the back of this bob. Having it more blunt is key. But make sure to add texture to keep it from having that “straight out of the salon” feel. You want it to look lived in.

  2. Think about adding fringe. One thing that makes the French bob so recognizable is the wispy bangs. They complement the blunt structured edges of the rest of the cut by bringing in a touch of femininity and softness. Its the perfect juxtaposition.

  3. Styling (or not styling) is key. If you have natural texture you are in luck! This cut will be so easy for you. Don’t over style it. Embrace your texture, embrace a little natural frizz, and maybe just enhance with a sea salt spray or scrunch a little paste in the ends and bangs for a “second day” looking grit to your hair. If you do not have natural texture try lightly waving with a flat iron and applying sea salt spray and dry texture spray to emulate beachy bed head.

Here are my recommended products you can pick up in salon to give the perfect texture and movement to this cut…
